A Crow and A Sparrow

On my very rainy birthday I was visited by a rather sullen wet crow. It perched on the railing of the balcony all hunched up, trying to avoid the worst of the rain. The crow stared out at the grey sodden sky as if it was willing the clouds to break and the sun to appear.

The back of the crow looked like it had esoteric silver symbols painted on it’s black rain slicked feathers, the symbols shimmered in the half light which added to the otherworldly feeling of this encounter.

The crow stoically gazed out and assessed the gloomy weather. Suddenly as if the crow had been re-animated by a mystical power it awoke from it’s slumberous state. Shaking the water off it’s back, it craned it’s head skywards to steal another look at the cloudy sky and to see if it’s interpretations of the astral signs were correct.

The crow seemingly reassured by the omens in the sky, extended it’s back and promptly defecated on the balcony and then flew off.

Only a few days after this visitation of the crow, a sparrow also landed and hopped around for a minute or so before flying off. It seems that the news of our bird friendly balcony is slowly spreading amongst the avian population.
